Jose’s Story

Jose is an energetic and charismatic 17 year old student in our high school program. He began attending our school at age 3 as a cautious preschooler using a wheelchair. Through determination and hard work with our therapy department, Jose quickly transitioned from wheelchair mobility to using a walker and cane. Today he walks independently through our hallways with a friendly smile and joke to tell. He is an active member of our adapted sports program participating on our baseball, kickball, and Special Olympic Team. Jose’s personality has also developed over his years at the CP Center. In addition to volunteering as the announcer for our special events, Jose can be heard every morning leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance and reading our school’s daily announcements. He is a singer in the school’s chorus, leader in our Boy Scout troop, and almost always steals the show as an important cast member of the Performing Arts Club. In the classroom, Jose is a hard working student that loves to draw and write and one day hopes to become a cartoon artist.
